About the District

The Board of Trustees is comprised of seven members elected at-large to four-year terms by the voters in South Orange County.  Board members reside in the areas they represent.  Terms are staggered with elections being held every two years in connection with the general election.  Use the related topics box at right to view a map of the areas and find out more about the SOCCCD Board of Trustees.

The Board is responsible for overseeing all academic programs and educational services by establishing policies to assure the quality, integrity and effectiveness of the student learning programs and services, and the financial stability of Saddleback College, Irvine Valley College and the Advanced Technology & Education Park. 

The Board welcomes open discussion. Regular monthly meetings are open to the public and opportunities are provided for members of the public and staff to address the Board.  Board policies; meeting schedule, agendas and highlights; and streaming video of meetings are all available on the district web site.  See related topics at right.   

The student trustee is elected by the students of Saddleback College and Irvine Valley College and serves a one-year advisory term of office from May through the following April.  Additional information is available by calling Saddleback College Student Development at (949) 582-4616 or the Associated Students of Irvine Valley College at (949) 559-3260.

The Board elects officers at the annual organizational meeting held in December.
