WILLIAM O. JAY

Trustee William O. Jay, elected to fill a vacancy on the Board in a special election held March 30, 2004, was re-elected to another four-year term through 2012.

Dr. Jay dedicated 25 years of his professional career to the South Orange County Community College District, from 1974 to 1999.   At Saddleback College he served in many capacities, most notably College President, Dean of Instruction and Professor of Mathematics.  In his role as Dean, he helped develop off-campus programs for what is now Irvine Valley College.  From 1996 until his retirement in 1999, Dr. Jay served as Vice Chancellor of Administrative Services and Human Resources for the District.
Dr. Jay comments, “Today our Colleges must expand educational opportunities for young college students, adults, and seniors and increase high technology and skill training for the community and our employees.”
 
Dr. Jay graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters of Education from the University of Vermont.   In 1980, he earned a Doctorate of Education from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
