Chancellor
Raghu P. Mathur congratulated
outgoing President David B. Lang
and presented him with a special plaque to commemorate his
leadership over the past three years. He also received resolutions
and acknowledgements from the State Chancellor's Office,
Orange County Board of Supervisors, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger,
and Congressman John Campbell. Thanks
to Senator Dick Ackerman, the entire delegation
of California Senators and Assembly Members from Orange County participated
in a resolution, too. Jeff Zech from Assemblywoman
Mimi Walter's office was on hand to assist in its presentation.

- President
Donald P. Wagner gave a sincere thanks to Trustee
Lang for his outstanding service, as well as Trustee
Fuentes. He looks forward to the opportunity of Board President
and pledged to do his best to serve the trustees and students. He noted
that President McCullough has the undying gratitude
of this Board for his many years of service. He thanked the SC accreditation
team for their flexibility in trying to accommodate his schedule during
their site visit, and thanked the trustees who could attend the meeting.
- Vice
President John S. Williams thanked all his Board colleagues
for voting for him as Vice President. He congratulated President McCullough
for his outstanding years of service.
- Trustee
William O. Jay congratulated Trustee Lang
for three years of great service as President and expressed
appreciation of his very transparent leadership style. He congratulated
incoming President Wagner, who was Board President
when he first came on the Board in 2004. He acknowledged Professors
Carmen Dominguez and Scott Farthing
and all of the students and community members who created the marvelous
SC Festival of Lights.
- Trustee
David B. Lang discussed what an honor and pleasure
it had been to serve as Board President. He expressed appreciation for
the support of Board officers Donald P. Wagner and
Thomas A. Fuentes, fellow trustees, Chancellor
Mathur, President McCullough, President Roquemore,
Deputy Chancellor Poertner, Vice Chancellor Serban, Vice Chancellor
King, and all the constituency groups. He specifically noted
the hard work and dedication of Chancellor Mathur and the indelible
mark upon Saddleback College by President McCullough, who is retiring
in June 2008.
- Trustee
Marcia Milchiker echoed the praises of President
McCullough. She attended the Community College League of California
conference in San Jose and participated in many sessions which addressed
relevant statewide issues. She attended the always wonderful SC Festival
of Lights and mentioned that she will be trying out for the chorus
next year. She recommended that the public attend performances at the
new IVC Performing Arts Center.
- Trustee
Nancy M. Padberg gave a report from the Orange County
Transportation Authority (OCTA) Stakeholders Working Group for South
Orange County Major Investment Study. OCTA has requested to make a presentation
to the Board next year. One of the strategic alternatives being considered
directly impacts SC. She attended many events this month and made a
presentation on behalf of the SC Foundation to the San Clemente City
Council, which voted to support to the SC Veterans Memorial. She said
the President McCullough will be greatly missed.

Trustee Matthew T. Reynard thanked Trustee
Lang for his comments and congratulated the new Board officers.
He said that students do appreciate all the hard work of the Board.
He wished all happy holidays and students good luck on their finals.
- Chancellor
Raghu P. Mathur thanked Trustee Lang
for his complimentary comments and congratulated the new Board officers.
He recognized and thanked all employee groups who work so hard on behalf
of students. He also acknowledged the Board, which met four times this
past month, for their hard work and commitment to the Colleges and ATEP.
He gave holiday greetings to all.

President Richard McCullough's written report included
mention of: President McCullough was appointed to
Purdue University's Department of Biological Sciences Advisory Board;
City of Lake Forest pledged $5,000 to the Veterans Memorial; news coverage
of the Aquarium & Aquaculture Science program; Fine Arts performances;
nursing students Jamie Sah, Karen Ritter, and Christina
Gorospe who received awards at the CA Nursing Student Association
convention; and the Gaucho football team qualified for a post-season
bowl game for the seventh consecutive season.
- IVC
President Glenn Roquemore 's written report included
mention of: one-of-a-kind presentation of dance students alongside dance
professionals of instructor Marie de la Palme; Speech
and Debate Team earned a bronze medal at the Griffin-Mann Invitational
tournament; positive response to a letter promoting IVC sent to over
3,000 Irvine parents; Piano Series and VOCES Master Chorale and Orchestra
performances in the new Performing Arts Center; and swearing-in ceremonies
for Willie Glen, the new police chief.
- ATEP
Provost Robert J. Kopecky 's written report included
mention of: new program development; student services and instruction
update; continuing progress of negotiations with Camelot Entertainment;
web site upgrades; and advertising and outreach for spring semester
courses.
