Session actions:
RESOLUTIONS Trustee Nancy Padberg, Board Clerk, presented Board Resolutions commending and congratulating the Irvine Valley College Women's Basketball 2002 Team, the Irvine Valley College Men's 2002 Basketball Team, 2002 Hayward Award for Excellence recipient Dr. Terri Whitt, Saddleback College nursing instructor, and Dr. Donald L. Busche, Saddleback College Vice President of Instruction, upon his retirement on June 30, 2002. |

BOARD OF TRUSTEES REPORTS
Board President Donald P. Wagner congratulated Dr. Glenn Roquemore on his appointment as President of Irvine Valley College. Trustee Marcia Milchiker also congratulated Dr. Roquemore, and thanked students for speaking at the Board meeting. Trustee John Williams agreed that the ACCT Conference offered a wonderful program. He congratulated Dr. Roquemore on his appointment. He said that the Saddleback College Foundation golf tournament in which he participated with Trustee Lang and instructor Bill Kelly raised $20,000 for scholarships. Vice President Dorothy Fortune thanked everyone for their participation in the selections of Dr. Glenn Roquemore as the President of Irvine Valley College and Hans Kuss as the Vice President of Instruction for Saddleback College, as they are excellent choices. Clerk Nancy Padberg attended the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) regular meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada, and commented that it was a good meeting. Trustee David B. Lang did not give a report. Trustee Thomas A. Fuentes asked that the Presidents of Saddleback College and Irvine Valley College work with a committee to plan a patriotic remembrance commemorating the first anniversary of the September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attack on America. He also requested that a sign be prepared and placed on the wall designating the SOCCCD location of the board meetings for the television viewing audience.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE ACTIONS OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
CHANCELLOR RAGHU P. MATHUR reported that he held the first Chancellor's
Roundtable Conference. He hosted the K-12 district superintendents and
Board of Education representatives in the SOCCCD service area to discuss
how to strengthen collaboration and communication. The result is the establishment
of a District Coordinating Council headed by Dr. Tom Anderson, Vice Chancellor
of Educational Services. Dr. Mathur congratulated Dr. Glenn Roquemore on
his selection as President of Irvine Valley College and thanked retiring
Saddleback College Vice President of Instruction Dr. Donald L. Busche for
his many years of service.
SADDLEBACK COLLEGE PRESIDENT DIXIE BULLOCK announced that Saddleback
College will celebrate its 35th Anniversary this year and will have further
announcements on special anniversary events. The SC Civic Light Opera (SCLO)
is celebrating its 25th Anniversary and has a great summer schedule for
the entire family. The new electronic marquee will be installed this summer.
The groundbreaking for the new Health Sciences-District Offices Building
will be on Wednesday, September 25, 2002. Congratulations to Dr. Roquemore
and many thanks to Vice President Don Busche.
IRVINE VALLEY COLLEGE PRESIDENT DR. GLENN ROQUEMORE expressed
many thanks and a fond farewell to Don Busche for all of the help he has
provided as a valued friend for many years. Dr. Roquemore thanked the members
of the Board for placing their trust in him to lead IVC. He announced that
summer enrollment is up. He commended the special recognition of IVC students
Thomas Santelli and Daniel Taylor.

President Jamie Cayetano congratulated Dr. Glenn Roquemore on his appointment.
The Senate will hold a book sale beginning on July 15th with the goal of
raising $1,000 for student schiolarships.

President Jeffrey Kaufman did not give a report.
SADDLEBACK COLLEGE ACADEMIC SENATE
President Randy Anderson thanked Don Busche for his service and said
that he will be missed by all.
SADDLEBACK COLLEGE FACULTY ASSOCIATION
President Mike Merrifield said that he looks forward to next year.
CLASSIFIED SCHOOL EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION (CSEA)
President Mary Williams stated that it was sad that negotiations were
declared at an impasse, and that the District should value the contributions
of classified employees by finding the common ground they share.
