AND COMMENTS |

- President
Donald P. Wagner thanked President McCullough,
Brandye D'Lena and Walt Rice for the tour of the SC BGS building.
He looks forward to it being open for students. He thanked President
Roquemore for the very well done IVC Foundation dinner. He
welcomed the new student trustee, Hannah H.E. Lee, who will begin her
term next month.
- Vice
President John S. Williams mentioned meeting with
many legislators while attending the Community College League of California
Capitol Days with Chancellor Mathur. He plans to return
to Sacramento in June to help protect the budget for community colleges.
He attended a meeting with CSU Fullerton President Milt Gordon
about ATEP and the wonderful IVC Foundation dinner.
- Clerk
of the Board Thomas A. Fuentes gave an update from
the Orange County Community Colleges Legislative Task Force. Supervisor
Moorlach will be making a presentation on the issue of declining
property taxes. A letter was sent in support of AB2277. OC higher education
leaders will hold a news conference on the Capitol steps next month.
He extended congratulations to President Roquemore
and Al Tello on the excellent IVC Foundation dinner
and complimented the guest speaker, Chapman University President James
Doti.
- Trustee
William O. Jay complimented Dr. McCullough
on the tremendous job he has done as president and acknowledged
Matthew Reynard, Dr. Serban, Robert King, and outgoing
SC basketball coach Bill Brummel. He hopes that the
new BGS building works out and is pleased to see that the SC football
stadium renovation, funded by the SC Foundation, will be on the agenda.
He attended a great presentation of Forbidden Broadway at
SC.
- Trustee
David B. Lang attended an impressive lecture at SC
by a Holocaust survivor. He thanked President Roquemore
for the IVC Foundation dinner and noted that the honorees were incredible
and deserving of recognition. He congratulated IVC on winning the state
men's volleyball championship! He attended an SC accreditation subcommittee
meeting. He mentioned that we are all indebted to President
McCullough for his leadership. He said goodbye to Dr.
Serban and Robert King and mentioned what a pleasure it was
to rely on such an outstanding district leadership team. He acknowledged
Matthew Reynard and welcomed incoming Student
Trustee Lee.
- Trustee
Marcia Milchiker said that she will greatly miss President
McCullough, Vice Chancellor Serban, Vice Chancellor King and Student
Trustee Reynard . She thanked the classified employees who
we couldn't do without to keep our colleges going. She said that a wonderful
job was done in the renovation of the BGS building. She thanked Jennie
McCue for sending out the Kaleidoscope of Diversity brochure
which features many SC events. She encouraged everyone to attend the
events to understand other cultures.

Nancy M. Padberg mentioned that it is wonderful to
see the BGS building in such great shape and looks forward to seeing
it occupied with students and faculty. She mentioned the OCTA
Stakeholders Working Group for the South Orange County Major Investment
Study, of which she is a representative for the district.
- Student
Trustee Matthew Reynard attended the IVC Foundation
dinner and the opening of Fiorello at the IVC Performing Arts
Center. He congratulated Hannah Lee and expressed
his appreciation to everyone who had a part in his year as student trustee.
- Chancellor
Raghu P. Mathur joined the trustees in recognizing
Matthew Reynard, Dr. Richard McCullough, Dr. Andreea Serban,
and Robert King. He congratulated President Roquemore
on the IVC Foundation dinner event which was well organized
and well attended. He reported that the state budget shortfall is projected
to be between $12 to $15 billion and that the final budget is not expected
to be adopted until August or September. The biggest threat to our district
is the possible loss of $900,000 out of the approximately $10 million
that our colleges receive in categorical funds. He provided a brief
report on the American Association of Community Colleges annual conference
which he plans to share in more detail with the District Leadership
Council. He learned that community colleges in 48 out of the 50 states
are experiencing budget difficulties.

President Richard McCullough 's written report included
mention of: students Dilan Swift, Alex Ascencio and Simba Rashe
Subau who won top awards at the Model United Nations national
conference and students David Curry and David Lopez
who received awards from the state Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Society;
nursing student Kimberly Root was elected an officer
in the National Student Nursing Association; and Tuttle Click
Automotive pledged $100,000 toward scholarships.
- IVC
President Glenn Roquemore 's written report included
mention of: $10,000 donation from AT&T; e-waste
drive by Phi Theta Kappa; Professor Lisa Alvarez recently
published “Sweet Time,” as part of Latinos in Lotusland: An Anthology
of Contemporary Southern California Literature; Dr. Stephan
Felder was recognized by UCI's Teacher Recognition Program;
and the Theatre Department's production of Fiorello debuted
at the Performing Arts Center.
- ATEP
report from President Roquemore included mention of:
continuing negotiations for the master development of ATEP including
a long range academic plan; meetings with CSU Fullerton to discuss the
future educational direction for ATEP; 45 course offerings will be on
the summer schedule; marketing the design model making and prototyping
program; and a new CACT website.

benefits in compliance with government accounting guidelines.

of bid for $1,860,975 to JRH Construction to construct the SC Fine Arts
restroom expansion.
- accepting
$556,000 from the California Community College Chancellor's Office to
expand the SC associate degree nursing programs by a minimum of 11 students
over a two year period.
- accepting
$200,000 to SC from the California Community College Chancellor's Office
for the Teacher Preparation Pipeline grant.
- highlights
of the consent calendar: updating the IVC seal, IVC curriculum revisions
for the 2008-09 academic year, and award of bid for $405,483 to Trend
Offset Printing for printing and mailing of SC, IVC and ATEP class schedules.

Professor Howard Adams and IVC Professor Kathy Schmeidler made presentations
on curriculum development and the status of the new curriculum management
system.
- SC
Professor Morgan Barrows and IVC Professor Emeritus Jerry Rudmann provided
a progress report on student learning outcomes at both colleges.
