The IVC Classified Senate adopted a special resolution affirming its commitment to its role in planning and decision-making at Irvine Valley College. The resolution renews their pledge to work collegially with the Board of Trustees, Chancellor, district administration, college administration, faculty and students in order to maximize student success and institutional effectiveness. |

P. Wagner mentioned that the Chancellor's Opening Session was most enjoyable. He also said he had an opportunity to attend the IVC accreditation focus group's report to the campus.

John S. Williams thanked Chancellor Mathur, President Roquemore, staff and speakers for an excellent Opening Session and said one of the highlights was seeing the 39 new faculty members on stage. He thanked the Faculty Association for a most informative session and acknowledged all hours that went in to making in-service such a success.

William O. Jay gave kudos to instructional and promotional staff for the wonderful work that has resulted in impressive enrollment numbers for fall. He also congratulated Gary Poertner, Beth Mueller, Carol Hilton and Davit
Khachatryan for their hard work on the final budget. He was pleased to share that the district retired its Certificates of Participation (COPS) debt in June and is one of the few districts in the state to fully fund its retiree liability.

Trustee David B. Lang continues to participate in the SC accreditation committee and thanked Committee Chair Carmen Dominguez and each team member for their dedication and hard work. He congratulated Chancellor Mathur on a successful and enjoyable Opening Session and the college presidents on a great kickoff to a new academic year. He gave kudos to human resources staff for their assistance with the many new hires. He announced his intent to run for board re-election.
- Trustee Marcia Milchiker also attended the Opening Session and enjoyed welcoming all of the new faculty to the district. She also had an opportunity to attend several in-service events, most notably, one by Cristy Brenner and Jeanne Egasse. She acknowledged the anniversary of Women's Equality Day and encouraged all women to vote in November.

Nancy M. Padberg encouraged everyone to purchase a $100 memorial brick to support the SC Veterans Memorial. She attended the kickoff of the SC football season and acknowledged the athletic teams at both colleges, commenting that they help to build character and keep our students focused. She mentioned the marvelous experience of Olympian Misty May, former IVC instructor and coach, as an example.

Raghu P. Mathur welcomed President Tod Burnett, Vice Chancellor Bob Bramucci, Vice Chancellor David Bugay and the 39 new faculty and thanked the human resources staff for their dedication in getting them all hired. He thanked everyone at both colleges for the wonderful in-service week activities. He reported that enrollment is up at all three campuses for an average of about 10%. He mentioned the tremendous growth at ATEP, doubling its enrollment in one year from 400 to 800, which shows that the demand is there. He thanked everyone for their diligence in following the plan to implement measures to meet the 50% law in 2007/08. The final calculation was 51.36%, which is subject to confirmation by our auditors.
- SC President Tod Burnett 's written report included mention of: initial meetings with students, faculty, staff and administrators; a September 11 commemoration ceremony is being planned; Welcome Fest was held for students and provide information; Transfer Center will hold “Think Transfer” Quad Sits during the first week of classes; Auditions were held for To Kill a Mockingbird, Charley’s Aunt, and A Contemporary Christmas Carol; 72 applied for the Teacher Preparation Pipeline (TPP); 41 international students were accepted for the fall semester; a 40th anniversary celebration is being planned for September.
- IVC President Glenn Roquemore 's written report included mention of: $50,000 anonymous donation to the Wind Symphony; former badminton player Eva Lee competed in the 2008 Olympic Games in China; the Men’s Volleyball team was featured in Volleyball magazine for their state title win and Peter Johnson was named national player of the month; Arleen Elserod is the new Director of Admissions, Records and Enrollment Services; 3D design instructor Linda Southwell was chosen as a featured artist at the 2008 Orange County Fair; world-renowned organist Frederick Swann will perform at the Performing Arts Center with proceeds to benefit the Organ Scholarship Fund.
- ATEP Acting Associate Provost Tracy Daly ’s written report included mention of: an enrollment report, including a list of top enrolled classes; a Dean’s summit was held to discuss ATEP course planning; SC is assisting with some landscaping maintenance and IVC is assisting with campus security; targeted marketing and advertising campaigns are underway; preliminary bidder conferences were held with potential master developers; productive meetings have been held with CSU, Fullerton discuss a biotechnology educational partnership, and Chapman University College to discuss potential workforce development programs.
