• all consent calendar items and academic and classified personnel actions. If you wish to know specifics, please contact the Office of the President or Vice Chancellor, Human Resources.

• a reorganization of the Advanced Technology & Education Park. ATEP will now be administered by Irvine Valley College, and continue to be a location for both IVC and SC courses and programs. The current 1.5 acre ATEP site will be under the day to day direction of Dr. David Gatewood, the IVC Dean of Career Technical Education and Workforce Development. Dr. Randy Peebles, ATEP Provost, will transfer to the District offices. He will continue reporting to the Chancellor, focusing on management of ATEP development and education and business partnerships to build out the 68 acre site. Dean Rocky Cifone will transfer from ATEP to Saddleback College to serve as the Dean of Business Science and Economic and Workforce Development. Some staff will remain at the ATEP campus and others will transfer to positions throughout the district.

• agreement for legal services with Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo.   

• contract with Marlys Grodt & Associates for a study of administrative and classified management positions, not to exceed $25,000.  Classification specifications will be updated, and appropriate internal relationships between proposed classifications will be assessed with recommendations as appropriate.  Implementation of the study is subject to final approved by the Board of Trustees. A previous study was performed in 2002. 

• agreement for legal services with Bergman and Allderdice for special tax counsel to assist in the development of the new market tax credit program which would provide funding for demolition at the ATEP campus.

• Trustees thanked the students in the SC  Culinary Arts program for preparing a wonderful meal for them. 

• The meeting was adjourned in memory of Saddleback College student Ana Tara Vigil. 

• SC President Tod Burnett's written report included mention of: gearing up for the accreditation team visit in October; Anthropology Professor Mike Merrifield's work with the Juanero Band of Mission Indians resulting in federal recognition for the tribe by the U.S. Department of the Interior; students Jessica Barr and Neda Mosafaei presenting an original scientific research poster at the Annual Convention of the American Psychological Association; athletic accomplishments in women's soccer and golf; Transfer Center testing e-chat  live advising; over 65 universities participating in 2010 Transfer Day; and Veterans Resource Fair event.

• IVC President Glenn Roquemore's written report included mention of: Professor Daniel Luzko and his sister Dr. Nancy Luzko being commissioned to compose a production to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Paraguay's independence; commemoration ceremony for the ninth anniversary of 9/11; music faculty Christine Azzoni-Dow and her sister Sandra Wood recently performing at the American Church in Paris; movie series commemorating the life of legendary film director Akira Kurosawa; Foundation golf tournament on October 6; second annual alumni musical recital; and Bye, Bye Birdie auditions for upcoming performances in November.   

• ATEP Provost Randy Peebles' written report included mention of: campus tours for Trustees Lang and Williams; meeting with NewSchool of Architecture to discuss possible future location at ATEP; submission by the Center for Applied Competitive Technologies (CACT) at ATEP of a Request for Qualifications to the Santa Ana W/O/R/K Center to provide environmental design and compliance training for unemployed and transitioning workers; collaboration with B. Braun Medical could result in multi-year contract for training automation for their technicians and engineers; and bidding process for building demolition.

The Board meeting will be available for viewing online later in the week. Television broadcast is scheduled for 7pm on both Friday, October 1 and Saturday, October 2, on Saddleback College Channel 39 and Irvine Valley College Channel 33.  SC TV39 has an additional broadcast on Sunday, October 3 at 7pm.
