The Board approved the Police Officers Association Master Agreement

for July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2010.

• Board President David B. Lang mentioned that the ATEP campus looks very nice in terms of getting ready for students in August. He acknowledged the hard work of the negotiating teams for the POA agreement. He adjourned the meeting in memory of Celia Milchiker , the mother-in-law of Trustee Marcia Milchiker, and Gary Stakan.

• Vice President Donald P. Wagner sent condolences to Trustee Milchiker and her family.

• Trustee John S. Williams thanked the SC and IVC police chiefs and the College police departments for the excellent job they do.

• Student Trustee Matthew T. Reynard attended a Chamber of Commerce luncheon with Chancellor Mathur this month and is looking forward to tours of the IVC Performing Arts Center and ATEP. He will be attending the student trustee conference next month.

• Chancellor Raghu P. Mathur announced that summer enrollment headcount is up about 8.7% and FTES is up 14% over the summer, 2006. While it is still early, fall enrollment FTES are up nearly 5% over 2006 so far. Over 100 students are signed up for fall classes at ATEP. Board meetings will now be available for viewing online starting later this week, and archived for future reference.

• SC President Richard McCullough's written report included mention of: the Cities of Laguna Niguel and Dana Point each donated $5,000 toward the Veterans Memorial; Transfer Center workshops; Division of Fine Arts summer performances and exhibits; SC Surf Team finished fifth in the national surf championships and Coach Bill Steinriede was named National Scholastic Surf Coach of the Year; SC Foundation gala “Rhythm and Blues” is scheduled for 9/22/07; and television advertisements promoting SC are currently airing on local cable stations.

• IVC President Glenn Roquemore's written report included mention of: welcome to new Vice President of Instruction Craig Justice , Ph.D.; Foundation announced a donation of $17,910 from Charter 100; Community Education launched a Kids Kollege program with over 300 registered participants ages K-12; Outreach Department is actively assisting ATEP; and partnership between Tustin Unified School District to launch an early college program is underway with 34 students who will be entering 9th grade.

• ATEP Provost Robert J. Kopecky's written report included mention of: finishing touches are being completed on the campus for classes on August 20; outreach and marketing efforts; potential partnerships with Orange County Rescue Mission and University of California Urban Water Research Center; development of procedures; faculty orientation scheduled on 8/13/07; and course planning for Spring 2008.

• placement of a plaque in the IVC campus greenhouse compound in memory of former professor Alan J. Cohen.

• Spring 2008 SC Oxford Semester Abroad in Oxford, England and study abroad programs to Peru and Guanajuato, Mexico.

• acceptance of the California Community College Chancellor's Office Grant, Articulation of Career Technical Education Pathways to Four-Year Institutions in the amount of $750,000.

• mission statements for SC, IVC and ATEP.

emergency preparedness at SC by Harry Parmer, at IVC by Jim Pyle (both pictured at right), and at ATEP by Provost Kopecky.
