
HEALTH
AND WELFARE BENEFITS
The
District offers a comprehensive benefits package to all eligible
full-time employees and their eligible dependents. Our
benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance,
life insurance and dependent life coverage, accidental death
and dismemberment coverage, long-term care Insurance, an employee
assistance program, flexible spending accounts, and pre-paid
legal services. All coverages begins on the first day of the
month following the hire date (for example if you start February
23 your medical coverage begins March 1). All premiums for
the employee and their eligible dependents are fully paid
by the District.

is a general overview of the benefits provided to District

Medical
Insurance
Employees
can choose between Blue Shield Access + HMO or Blue Shield
PPO plans for themselves and their dependents.
Dental
Insurance
Employees
and their dependents receive comprehensive coverage through
Delta Dental.
Vision
Insurance
Employees
and their dependents receive vision coverage through Vision
Service Plan.
Flexible
Spending Account
The
District allows pre-tax deductions for health and dependent
care expenses not covered by insurance plans.
Legal
Plan
Comprehensive
legal services from experienced attorneys are available through
the Hyatt Legal Plan.
Employee
Assistance Program
The
EAP is available for all employees and their families and
provides free short-term counseling. Additional mental health
benefits are available through medical insurance.
Life
Insurance
The
District provides coverage for at least two times annual salary.
Additional insurance for employees and their dependents is
available at a flat rate. The District offers an option to
purchase supplemental life insurance.
Long
Term Care Insurance
Base
plan coverage and a voluntary coverage option are provided
for most employees.
Retiree
Benefits
Employees
who have been employed full-time by the District for ten years
immediately preceding the date of retirement will continue
to receive medical, dental and vision benefits for the retiree
and eligible dependents until the the retiree reaches the
age of Medicare eligibility (age 65).
