receive comprehensive medical benefits through Self-Insured
Schools of California (SISC) using the Blue Shield of California
Access + HMO or Blue Shield of California PPO network for
themselves and their dependents. New employees select their
plan upon employment and all employees have the option to
change the selection during open enrollment each year. Please

There
is also a wealth of information about your benefits online
at blueshieldca.com that is accessible by logging in with
the ID number on your insurance card. You can view a plan
summary and listing of benefits, find a doctor, find a hospital,
correspond with a registered nurse, research through the drug
database, view preventive health guidelines and heath videos,
and find out about wellness discount programs. You can
also check your deductible and the status of claims.
ACCESSING
SERVICES WHEN TRAVELING OUTSIDE OF CALIFORNIA
A
benefit to all Blue Shield members is the BlueCard Program
in which employees can access urgent care services across
the country and around the world. Before traveling abroad,
it is recommended that employees check the website and call
customer service for the most current listing of participating
hospitals and to obtain a brochure that provides information
on covered services in a foreign country. This can be
more cost-effective and eliminate the need for you to pay
for the services and then submit a claim for reimbursement.
