Group Calendar
South Orange County Community College District provides group
calendar for college and district full-time administrators, faculty
and staff. The calendar server is accessible by authorized users through
a client that can be downloaded from the district's Web site, or through
the convenience of any web browser.
Microsoft Outlook can alternately be used as the calendar interface
by installing a small application called a "connector."
See the note at the bottom of this page for additional information about
obtaining and installing the Oracle Connector for Outlook.
- To download the client, click here.
- To go immediately to the Web calendar page, click here.
Configuring The Calendar Client
After you have downloaded and installed the calendar client, the first
time you launch the application you will be presented with a Log-in
screen. Log-in using your regular Email user ID and password, and the
following server name:
calendar.socccd.org
There are many options available through the calendar client that allow
customization of the look and feel to work best for you. It is highly
recommended that you take full advantage of the on-line Help
facility to familiarize yourself with the features, functions and setup
of the client. Below are two important options that
you will want to consider.
Download Option:
Calendar will default to automatically download your agenda to the calendar
client so that you can work without a connection. This process can take
some time, and so we recommend you set this option to NOT download.
You can do this from the Tools, Options menu as shown below:

The Tools/Options menu provides many other opportunities for customizing
your calendar, including
- Configure your Agenda View. Set the hours, days
and information to be displayed in your agenda such as days of the
week, the hours to display each day, and on what day to start the
week
- Choose which color-coding method you want to apply
to your agenda. Meetings can be colored according to Importance Level,
Attendance, Status and Ownership.
- Select the default Importance level, Access level,
and for meetings. Access levels determine what amount of information
other users can see in your Agenda. Upcoming Reminders are shown in
your Notes Pane, and Remind Me Reminders are sent in the format you
specify.
- Set your Scheduling Preferences so that those
using the Suggest Date/Time dialog will only be able to schedule you
for Meetings that take place during your chosen work hours.
- Set the formats for names and Resources that appear
in your Agenda.
Designate Access:
Just above the Options selection on the Tools menu you will find the
Access Rights selection. In this menu you can set up others, such as
a secretary or administrative assistant, to have direct access to your
Agenda by identifying them as Designates, and designate rights to manage
your schedule for you.

Spend some time using the on-line Help facility and
exploring the options and other functions available from the Menu bar.
Accessing Calendar From Any Web Browser
If you don't want to bother with the calendar client, and want to access
your calendar from any browser, just click here
to go the calendar server Web page. Once there, you can bookmark the
Log-in page URL in your browser, or place the URL as a shortcut on your
desktop for convenience in accessing your calendar in the future. This
link is also always available from the District's web page under Employee
Services.
Log-in to calendar using your Email user ID and password. Many of the
features and configuration available through the client are also available
via the web browser.
Note: There is currently a problem using Netscape
7.0 that does not allow access to the Tools menu when clicking on
the icon so you won't be able to change any settings. We're looking
into it. If you're using Netscape 4.7, or IE 5.0 or later, you should
be fine.
Download And Install
The Oracle Connector for Outlook.
Microsoft Outlook has been widely adopted as a standard throughout the
district for integrated Email, calendar, and other networked services.
The Outlook calendar connector will provide access to group calendar
from the Outlook client. However, installation of the connector for
proper functioning with established user accounts is technically complex.
District and College technology departments will provide ssistance
with Outlook and with installation on request.
