Directory Services
Electronic Directory Services
are provided via WEB-based interface to assist users of the district
network, electronic mail, and the general public in locating district
faculty, staff and students.
LDAP (Lite
Directory Access Protocol) provides a means of looking up information
about faculty and staff based on specific search criteria. A directory
search can be made from a browser by using the district's Directory
Search page.
LDAP can also be incorporated
into electronic mail clients to assist in the addressing of messages.
Netscape Communicator, Eudora and Outlook support LDAP directory
lookup. The information presented below shows how to confiure
Netscape, but the attributes can be used in any Email client. that supports
LDAP.
DESCRIPTION: This will be the name given to the Directory
- Call it anything you like.
LDAP Server: ldap.socccd.cc.ca.us
Search Root: o=South Orange County Community College
District,c=US
Port Number: 389 (default)
Maximum Hits: 100 (default) but this may be set to
a higher number.
