A national leader in educational technology and research, enhancing the competitive position of our Colleges.
The Technology & Learning Services functions within the South Orange County Community College District include the following:
Office of the Vice Chancellor, Technology & Learning Services
- coordinating the development, delivery and review of all educational programs and services offered in the District;
- coordinating technology services for academic and administrative functions;
- coordinating district and college research functions with focus on promotion of student success;
- providing leadership and coordination in enrollment management and distance education programs;
- coordinating programs relationships with colleges, universities, local high schools, and regional occupational programs;
- coordinating workforce preparation programs in cooperation with regional businesses/industry; and
- chair of committees and task forces that address issues including sabbaticals, academic calendar, student information system, district planning, and distance education.
Institutional Research and Planning
- providing comprehensive data analysis and recommendations in the areas of instruction, student services, administrative services, technology, human resources and business services;
- facilitating the district strategic planning process;
- analyzing research studies on student outcome measures consistent with existing accreditation standards;
- assisting the colleges with data needs and methodologies in conducting program review and institutional effectiveness studies;
- writing grant proposals in support of the growth and development of educational programs; and
- facilitating the development, implementation and coordination of the district’s educational master plan.
Information Technology
- establishing the creative vision and direction for online services, products and programs for strategic use in serving the needs of students, faculty and staff;
- assuring security, reliability and continuity of all district-wide network infrastructure, computer operations and telecommunications;
- ensuring the accurate and timely analysis, development, implementation and management of management information systems to facilitate decision-making, operational support, program review, research support and analytical study;
- developing repositories of historical data to facilitate reporting requirements.; and
- maintaining relationships with students, staff and faculty user communities.
